THE ENTERTAINER
Starring Kenneth Branagh
By John Osborne
20 August 2016 - 12 November 2016
Set against the backdrop of post-war Britain, John Osborne's modern classic conjures the seedy glamour of the old music halls for an explosive examination of public masks and private torment.
Also joining the company will be Jonah Hauer-King as Frank Rice, Sophie McShera as Jean Rice and Greta Scacchi as Phoebe Rice. The Entertainer will play at the Garrick Theatre from Saturday 20 August until Saturday 12 November, with press night on Tuesday 30 August.

Nothing outstanding was a bit dissapointed
It was a magnificent play and it's was incredibly amazing to see Sir Kenneth Branagh on stage
The set was magnificent.it reflected the theme of the play which is an important play in theatrical history.Branagha's dancing was terrific. It was very good production.
Disappointed at the story, Kenneth Branagh had a wonderful presence on the stage but there were parts of the play that we found boring, such a shame but we were pleased we saw the leading man.
Boring, awful surprised I stayed to suffer the 2nd half
Kenneth brannagh is a superstar
Interesting production, although a little confusing to start with, switching from stage appearance to domestic area. The theatre's seats are very cramped, and I'm not particularly large!
A great play but I think a little out of context with the present day Remember seeing Olivier in the film he had more pathos than Branagh ( too long ago to be sure!!)
Branagh looked and acted without any hint of the tragic character that is Archie - the set was brilliant but where was the seediness in his attire? His suit looked brand new as did his shoes and his showgirls and their costumes costumes were far too good for a seedy music hall act. Greta Scacchi's silk dress was hardly what a Woolworths employee would be wearing in 1956! They consummed "gin" at the rate that would have knocked an elephant out! Ridiculous.
The play and the acting were very good. However, theatre itself suffers from poor sight lines of the stage, even for premium priced tickets.
The acting was superb and respect to the amount of lines learnt. Disappointed John Hurt not there & did not know as had not seen press release. there was no information at the theatre.
Thought the performances were very strong. The theatre was cold (rear stalls). The ticketed seats we had ordered months ago cost nearly £40 and had a pillar in the view of stage. Discovered those around us paid £15. We moved seats just prior to curtain upas a whole row to our left was empty and had a clear view, but officious usher tried to tell us the seats were taken and stopped the third member of our party joining us. Indeed they were not taken and he moved after interval - as did others. Actors/production got the star rating not the theatre.
