The multi-award-winning Jack Thorne (This is England, Let The Right One In, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) breathes new life into Woyzeck, one of the most extraordinary plays ever written.
It’s 1980s Berlin. The Cold War rages and the world sits at a crossroads between Capitalism and Communism. On the border between East and West, a young soldier (John Boyega) and the love of his life are desperately trying to build a better future for their child.
But the cost of escaping poverty is high in this searing tale of the people society leaves behind.

Excellent performances, but the adaptation was too far from the original Buchner drama for my tastes.
The play Voyzeck was excellent and John Boyega headed a hugely impressive cast. Setting and production values enhanced this significant play - John Boyega will make a magnificent Othello one day
Beautifully staged production with a very strong cast. Gripping
The play was gripping and very deep, it took you in to the mindset of a broken person and didn't cut out the scars that could be left behind. So glad there were some funny bits to slow the madness in a couple of scenes. John Boyegas' understudy Theo Solomon played the main character Woyzeck last night, and he did the character justice. Very well done on him and all of the cast and crew that managed to bring this amazing play to life!
Thoroughly enjoyed the performance of Woyzeck last night at the Old Vic, particularly impressed by depth of character and brilliant acting from Boyega - a true star!
